Hurrah! My first walking palm - Socratea exorrhiza - which is native to tropical Central and South America. A fast growing palm, specimens can occasionally grow to 25m and has splendid, spiky stilt roots. It is an indicator of truly tropical, sheltered, moist and humid rainforest. There’s various claims that it can/ can’t walk however, like certain pandanus, it is quite capable of shifting towards sunshine just like Pandanus. Maybe the gliding palm is a better description.
